Discover Mr. & Mrs. Crab - Pinellas Park

Walking into Mr. & Mrs. Crab - Pinellas Park at 7550 US Hwy 19 N, Pinellas Park, FL 33781, United States feels like stepping into a laid-back seafood party where the focus is on big flavors and zero pretension. I stopped by on a busy Friday night after hearing friends rave about the Cajun seafood boils, and the place was buzzing with families, couples, and regulars who clearly knew what they were ordering. The vibe leans casual, with upbeat music and servers who guide first-timers through the menu without rushing them.

The menu centers on seafood boils, and that’s where this diner-style restaurant really shines. You pick your catch-snow crab legs, shrimp, crawfish, mussels, or clams-then choose a seasoning blend and spice level. I went with the house blend at medium heat, which balanced buttery richness with garlic and Cajun spices. According to food science research published by the Institute of Food Technologists, combining fats like butter with spices enhances flavor perception, and you can taste that principle in every bite here. The seafood arrived steaming hot, tossed in sauce, and served straight in the bag, a method widely used in Southern coastal kitchens for locking in moisture and aroma.

From experience, portion size matters at seafood spots, and this one delivers. A single pound of shrimp with corn and potatoes was more than enough for a satisfying meal, and I watched a nearby table split a massive crab leg order between three people and still take leftovers home. This lines up with customer reviews across major dining platforms, where portion generosity and consistency are frequent highlights. One regular I chatted with mentioned that he visits at least twice a month because the flavor never changes, which says a lot in a restaurant scene where quality can fluctuate.

Beyond the boils, the menu includes fried baskets, po’ boys, and sides like hush puppies and fries. I tried the fried calamari as a comparison point, and it was light, not greasy, and clearly cooked to order. Food safety guidelines from the FDA recommend frying seafood at high temperatures to avoid oil absorption, and the kitchen here seems to follow that best practice closely. Drinks are simple-sodas, tea, and beer-keeping the focus on the food rather than flashy cocktails.

What sets this location apart is the staff’s hands-on approach. Servers explain spice levels with real examples instead of vague descriptions, which helps avoid ordering regret. One server described the hot level as bold kick without burning your taste buds, and that turned out to be spot-on. This kind of clarity builds trust, especially for diners new to seafood boils.

The Pinellas Park location of Mr. & Mrs. Crab is easy to reach, with plenty of parking and quick seating even during peak hours. While waits can happen on weekends, they move fast, and the team is upfront about timing. A minor limitation is that it can get loud during rush hours, which might not suit those looking for a quiet dinner, but it fits perfectly with the energetic atmosphere most guests expect.

Overall, the experience blends generous portions, clear flavors, and approachable service into a meal that feels reliable and fun. Whether you’re a local craving a seafood fix or visiting the area and scanning reviews for a safe bet, this spot delivers a hands-on, flavor-first dining experience that keeps people coming back.

  • Food was excellent, portions decent and service was spot on. The boils are a great value - you get to choose exactly what you want which is nice (not paying for food you won’t eat). I got snow crab and lobster, hubby got king crab & sausage. Very flavorful, good temperature and cooked perfectly (not rubbery or sticking to the shell). We will for sure be back.

  • What a great dinner. The flavors are awesome on the seasoned garlic butter (medium spicy). Seafood was cooked perfectly (shrimp, clams, green mussels). Bartender Jamie was perfectly attentive and helpful as well as friendly. Great experience overall.

  • JAIME!! He is the absolute best server here and bartender! His hospitality and kindness is unmatched. I come to this location very frequently to get my delicious crab boil and every time I do, Jaime is here. Today specifically I came in for the lunch special, which is a great deal. The way he cares and speaks to his customers is fun, respectful and just overall making sure everyone understands how to open the seafood that they are eating and goes above and beyond. His personality and charm is what makes this place so special, thank you! I will always come back here.

  • Mr & Mrs Crab – St. Pete Now this is a date night with personality — part restaurant, part seafood-themed carnival, part “why am I wearing gloves to dinner?” moment. The place is cheerful, beachy, and just the right side of quirky — fish on the walls, shells everywhere, and staff who make you feel like an old friend two minutes in. I went for the 1lb of shrimp boiled in Cajun spice, and it arrived… in a bag. Yep, a full bag. No plates, no ceremony — just a bib, gloves, and the unspoken rule: dignity ends here. Ten minutes later, I was elbow-deep in shrimp and joy. Messy, delicious chaos. Verdict: 10/10 for flavour, 11/10 for fun, and minus one napkin for the sheer carnage. Fresh shrimp, great vibe — what’s not to love?
